Question:

Tiny black spec like insects smaller than ants coming out from the walls or from around kitchen sink area everytime I bring food out or leave a dish in sink or leave one crumb out they appear. I have thrown away all food i got from food pantry. From rice, to cereal, have sprayed ant spray in all cupboards, bleached and wiped everything down and they still are around. Do you think they are grain weevils? Flour mites? I have captured several of them on a piece of duc tape.

Answer:

I think they are probably Rover ants. If you would like to try this on your own go to home depot or Walgreens even and get a small bottle of Terro Ant Bait (of if they have stations even better, or if you are in the neighborhood come on by our office, we have a storefront as well) and place a bit of the Terro (unless it’s a station) on a piece of foil where the ants show up. Let the ants take the bait back into the colony undisturbed. This should take care of your problem. If it doesn’t, then you may need treatment outside as well. But this solution should only run you about $5.00 to try before you invest in a full on treatment. J
