Subterranean Termite; swarming season is upon us.

Subterranean Termite; swarming season is upon us.

You get up one warm humid morning and suddenly you realize that there are tons of little winged creatures swarming all over your bathroom/living room etc.  What could they be?  Well you’ve just found out that your house has termites and since termites need 2 – 4 years to establish a swarmer producing colony you have probably had termites for some time.  Where did they come from?

Spring is the favorite time for the Subterranean Termite to swarm here in Texas.   Warm humid days are perfect for swarming.  These winged little guys don’t cause any damage but it’s a bit harrowing on the nerves when hundred come flying out of your wall.  The swarmers are only looking for a mate and a nice place to start a new colony.

The swarmers are usually the first sign the homeowner sees of active termites.  If you have a swarm pop up it’s important to get a licensed pest management professional out to give you a quote for a treatment.  The PMP should   give you a free quote  and must give you  a disclosure explaining exactly what the treatment entails, the amount and type of product they will use and how they will perform the treatment;  be sure you know what your warranty is.  We always encourage our customers to get a second quote, but be sure you are comparing apples to apples before choosing your company.
