Ticks in Austin

Ticks are starting to come out and it’s important that you know what to do besides freak out like I am prone to do. When I was 15 I was working cattle in East Texas and came home covered in blood and ticks (de-horning cattle, not my blood). 3 weeks later to the day started a high fever (104) that put me in the hospital, almost died that night as the hospital staff packed me in ice to try to keep my fever down. Turned out, one of the little monsters had given me Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick Fever. Keep a close eye on your pets, your kids and yourself when out hiking the greenbelt, or working in the yard.
